back up my important system files and all my data. But as for the OS and my apps, if I ever needed to, I would need to reinstall these. Also if one restores info from the DOS prompt and messes up the long file names .. is there ANYWAY to get them back, short of renaming them individually?

For a host backup in Omniback you cannot get a list of the files backed up during a session. You can do it for a filesystem backup but not the host backup - WHY! I think you can get this to work for a host backup, but quite frankly, I also had problems with it. I always got "Object not found.".

I just switched from Mozy to IDrive since IDrive will keep versions of a file. Mozy dumps file versions after 30days. I use offline backup as well as an external hard drive. The nice thing with IDrive is that the files are backed up almost as soon as they have been changed/ edited. BTW you get several Gigs storage
