After doing a clean install of windows vista, to OS created a file called windows.old. it takes a few gigs of memory on my HD and I would like to know if it safe to delete it .

Windows Vista renames your old Windows directory to Windows.old when you do a clean install.
If you no longer need anything from your old Windows directory, it is safe to delete. :)
